Standard Blind Rivets

Standard dome head blind rivets feature a body and mandrel and are used for applications where only one side of the material is accessible. Dome head POP rivets are used to permanently fasten pieces of material by inserting the body of the rivet into a pre-drilled hole. A rivet tool provides a way to pull the mandrel and expand the rivet body. Once the mandrel is removed, the standard blind rivet has been successfully installed.

RC Fasteners provides American standard blind rivets in different material options including stainless 304, steel, aluminum and steel zinc Cr+3 and in various lengths and diameters. Dome Head Blind Rivet Material Options

Standard POP rivets are typically offered in aluminum, steel and stainless steel combinations and provide a strong, vibration-resistant hold for applications ranging from electronics to construction. Standard blind rivets install quickly and easily and are a cost-effective solution for a broad range of applications. RC Fasteners offer the following POP rivet material options:

Considerations Before Selecting a Standard Blind Rivet for Your Application

Material choice is extremely important to consider when selecting a dome head blind rivet. Steel and stainless steel provide greater tensile strength, and aluminum and stainless steel provide resistant to corrosion.

POP rivet material should be chosen based on the material type of your assembly pieces, especially in applications where there is exposure to high temperatures or corrosive elements. Properly matching your dome head blind rivet material to your application material will also help reduce the risk of galvanic corrosion and material fatigue.

How to Choose a Standard Blind Rivet Grip Range?

To choose a grip range, measure the total thickness of the materials being fastened, also known as the rivet grip. You will need to choose a rivet with a grip range that falls within the measurements to ensure a proper and secure hold. Your rivet will also need to have enough length to allow for proper formation on the secondary head on the blind side of the assembly.

Dome Head Rivet Applications

With a range of blind rivet types to choose from, there are numerous applications that can benefit from the use of American standard blind rivets. Some of the direct attachment applications that POP rivets provide include:
  • Signs
  • Hinges
  • Decorations
  • Manufacturing
  • Woodworking

Steel Dome Head Blind Rivet

Features an aluminum rivet and self-contained steel mandrel. The steel mandrel in this standard blind rivet provides high tensile strength and shear values and the aluminum rivet provides corrosion resistance.
  • Sizes: 3-2 to 8-16
  • Grip Ranges: 0.031-0.125 to 1.251-1.375
  • Diameters: 3/32, 1/8, 5/32, 3/16, 1/4
  • Lengths: 0.188 to 1.55

Aluminum Dome Head Blind Rivet

Tis standard blind rivet features an aluminum head and mandrel. Aluminum has lower tensile strength than steel but is a lightweight option that provides corrosion resistance.
  • Sizes: 3-2 to 8-16
  • Grip Ranges: 0.031-0.062 to 1.126-1.250
  • Diameters: 3/32, 1/8, 5/32, 3/16, 1/4
  • Lengths: 0.188 to 1.55

Stainless 304 Dome Head Blind Rivet

Standard blind rivets with a stainless steel body and mandrel provide the strongest tensile strength, shear strength and mandrel bread-load standards. Stainless steel does not tarnish and resists corrosion and numerous chemicals and solvents.
  • Sizes: 4-1 to 8-12
  • Grip Ranges: 0.031-0.125 to 0.626-0.750
  • Diameters: 1/8, 5/32, 3/16, 1/4
  • Lengths: 0.188 to 0.975

Steel Zinc Cr+3 Dome Head Blind Rivet

Steel standard blind rivets have greater tensile strength and shear values that other materials. This specific style of steel dome headed blind rivets is coated with zinc Cr+3 to provide resistance to corrosion.
  • Sizes: 3-2 to 8-16
  • Grip Ranges: 0.031-0.062 to 1.001-1.125
  • Diameters: 3/32, 1/8, 5/32, 3/16, 1/4
  • Lengths: 0.188 to 1.3
