4.5mm Hex Female Standoffs
4.5mm hex female standoffs are metric-thread spacers with tapped bores on both ends and a hexagonal body, designed to maintain a precise 4.5mm gap between PCBs, panels, and mounting surfaces. The female-female thread configuration makes these standoffs a reliable choice for single-board mounting and panel spacing in assemblies built to metric standards.
These standoffs are commonly used in European industrial electronics, embedded systems, and OEM builds that use M-series fasteners.

What Are 4.5mm Hex Female Standoffs?
Hex female standoffs are threaded on both ends, with no male post. A screw goes in from each side: one to secure the board below, one to fasten whatever sits above. That makes these the right call for single-board mounting rather than stacking. For stacking multiple boards, male-female standoffs are the better fit. The male post on one end carries the assembly upward so each board connects directly to the next. If the design just needs a height gap and a through-bolt handles the clamping, an unthreaded round spacer is a simpler solution.

Selection Guidance
- Standoff vs. Spacer: Female standoffs are threaded at both ends. Use them where independent fastening is needed at each mounting point. Unthreaded spacers are used when a single bolt passes through the full height gap.
- Measuring Spacing: Body length equals the standoff's height contribution. Account for PCB thickness and fastener dimensions when calculating total stack height. Lengths are available up to 15mm for taller assembly requirements.
- Material Selection: Aluminum is a good fit for lightweight assemblies and applications sensitive to magnetic interference. Stainless steel is the better choice where corrosion resistance or exposure to chemicals is a concern.
- Inch vs. Metric: Use metric standoffs wherever M-series threads are specified in the design. Do not substitute inch-thread hardware in metric assemblies, as the thread profiles are not compatible.
