6mm Hex Female Standoffs

6mm hex female standoffs are metric-thread spacers with tapped bores on both ends and a hexagonal body, designed to hold a precise 6mm gap between PCBs, panels, and mounting surfaces. The extra body length over the 4.5mm option makes these the right call when component height, connector clearance, or wiring beneath the board needs more room.

These standoffs are common in industrial electronics, OEM builds, and automation equipment where M-series fasteners are specified and moderate board clearance is required.

What are 6mm Hex Female Standoffs?

Hex female standoffs are threaded on both ends, with no male post. A screw goes in from each side: one below to secure the board, one above to fasten whatever sits on top. That's the standard setup for single-board mounting to a chassis surface or holding two panels at a fixed gap.

For stacking multiple boards, male-female standoffs are the right choice. The male post carries the assembly upward so each board connects directly to the next. If a through-bolt is handling the clamping and no thread engagement at the spacer is needed, an unthreaded spacer is simpler.

Key Features

  • Hexagonal body with wrench flats for rotation-resistant, tool-driven installation
  • Female-female thread configuration for PCB mounting and panel spacing
  • 6mm body length for moderate board clearance
  • Available in aluminum and stainless steel
  • Stainless steel provides strong corrosion resistance for demanding environments
  • Aluminum is lightweight, non-magnetic, and stable across a wide temperature range
  • Compatible with M3 metric screws

Applications for 6mm Hex Female Standoffs

  • PCB mounting where component or connector clearance requires more than 4.5mm
  • Control panel and power supply assemblies
  • Board spacing in industrial automation and instrumentation equipment
  • European and global OEM builds with M-series hardware requirements
  • Prototyping and R&D builds using metric fastener systems

Selection Guidance

  • Standoff vs. Spacer: Female standoffs are threaded at both ends. Use them where independent fastening is needed at each mounting point. Unthreaded spacers work when a single bolt passes through the full height gap.
  • 4.5mm vs. 6mm: The 6mm body gives 1.5mm of additional clearance. That difference matters when through-hole leads, connector bodies, or cable routing need the extra space. Verify body length against your layout before ordering.
  • Material Selection: Aluminum is a good fit for lightweight builds and applications sensitive to magnetic interference. Stainless steel is the better call where corrosion resistance or chemical fume exposure is a concern.
  • Inch vs. Metric: These standoffs use M-series threading. Do not substitute inch-thread hardware in metric assemblies, as the thread profiles are not compatible.
