6mm Hex Male-Female Standoffs

6mm hex male-female standoffs are metric-thread spacers with a male post on one end and a tapped female bore on the other, sized to hold a 6mm gap between PCBs, panels, and chassis surfaces. The 6mm body gives enough clearance for through-hole component leads, connector bodies, and light cable routing beneath a mounted board.

These standoffs are standard hardware in industrial automation, OEM electronics builds, and any metric assembly where board stacking is part of the design.

What are 6mm Hex Male-Female Standoffs?

The female bore accepts a screw from below to lock the lower board in place. The male post on top threads into the next board or bracket. You can stack as many levels as the design requires. Each standoff connects directly to the next with no extra fasteners between them.

Female-female standoffs work differently: each end takes its own screw, so boards attach independently rather than in a continuous stack. Unthreaded spacers are the simpler option when a single through-bolt is doing all the clamping work.

Key Features

  • Hexagonal body with wrench flats for torque-controlled installation
  • Male-female configuration for PCB stacking and multi-board assemblies
  • 6mm body length accommodates through-hole components and connectors
  • Available in aluminum and stainless steel
  • Stainless steel provides strong corrosion and chemical resistance
  • Aluminum is lightweight, non-magnetic, and thermally stable
  • Compatible with M3 metric screws

Applications for 6mm Hex Male-Female Standoffs

  • PCB stacking where component or connector clearance exceeds 4.5mm
  • Multi-board assemblies in industrial automation and instrumentation
  • European and global OEM builds with M-series hardware requirements
  • Control panel and power supply assemblies
  • Prototyping and R&D builds using metric fastener systems

Selection Guidance

  • Standoff vs. Spacer: Male-female standoffs provide threaded engagement on both sides of the stack. If the design only needs a height gap with a single through-bolt, an unthreaded spacer is simpler.
  • 4.5mm vs. 6mm: Go with 6mm when through-hole leads, connector bodies, or cable runs need the extra clearance. If the 4.5mm body fits your layout, it keeps the stack more compact.
  • Material Selection: Aluminum is a good fit for lightweight builds and applications sensitive to magnetic interference. Stainless steel is the better choice when corrosion resistance or exposure to chemical fumes is a concern.
  • Inch vs. Metric: These standoffs use M-series threading. Do not substitute inch-thread hardware for metric assemblies, as the thread profiles are incompatible.
